FRESH STRAWBERRY - PEACH PIE


Ingredients:
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. flour
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. salt
4 c. sliced peaches (3-4 lg.)
2 c. sliced strawberries (1 pt.)
2 tsp. lemon juice
Double 9-inch pie crust

Instructions:
Heat oven to 375 degrees. For filling combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in large bowl. Add peaches and strawberries. Drizzle with lemon juice.

Toss to coat fruit with sugar mixture. Spoon into pastry-lined 9-inch pie plate. Add top crust.

TOPPING (optional) :
Milk
2 tsp. sliced blanched almonds, crushed
2 tsp. sugar

Brush top crust with milk. Sprinkle with nuts and sugar (can omit nuts). Cover edge with foil. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes. Remove foil; bake 30-40 minutes or until crust is light golden brown. Cool before serving.
