Christmas Cranberry Conserve

Excellent Christmas Gift. From Betty Crocker's New Christmas Cookbook

Ingredients:
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 cups water
2 (12-ounce) packages cranberries
2 tablespoons grated orange rind
4 oranges peeled and chopped
2 apples peeled and chopped
1 cups chopped nuts

Instructions:
Yield: 5 half-pints

Mix brown sugar and water in a dutch oven. heat to boiling. Boil 1 minute. Stir in remaining ingredients; except nuts. heat to boiling; boil rapidly about 20 minutes or until the cranberries pop and mixture thickens. Stir in nuts. Immediately pour into hot, sterilized jars or glasses or freezer containers, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace. Wipe rims of jars. Cover tightly. Cool. Store in refrigerator or freezer up to 3 months. Thaw before serving. Yield is about 5 half-pints of conserve.
