Silky Fudge Sauce

Smooth as silk, yet thick and fudgy- a taste of this sauce is like eating candy.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 (4-ounce) slice sweet chocolate bar chopped
1 cup sugar
1 (5-ounce) can evaporated milk
1 tablespoon light corn syrup
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:
Melt butter and chocolate (recipe was tested with Baker's Brand German Sweet Chocolate) in a heavy saucepan. Over medium heat. Stir in Sugar, evaporated milk,corn syrup, and salt. cook over medium heat, stirring gently, 5 minutes. or just until sugar disolves and sauce is smooth. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Cook to room temperature. Pour into gift jars. Cover and chill up to 1 month. Serve warm. Yield 2 cups.
Note: Reheat 1 cup sauce in a glass jar without lid in microwave at medium (50% power) 2 minutes. Stirring after 1 minute.
